New links for secret Citigroup Plutonomy Reports

from Edward Fullbrook

As the campaign to disappear Citigroup’s two Plutonomy Reports (political manifestos in effect) apparently continues, readers of my post https://rwer.wordpress.com/2010/11/11/citigroup-attempts-to-disappear-its-plutonomy-report-2/ report new difficulties in finding and downloading them. But here are new links for Report 1 (Plutonomy: Buying Luxury, Explaining Global Imbalances) and Report 2 (Revisiting Plutonomy: The Rich Getting Richer) that are working today, 2 Januray 2011.

These documents have been posted, perhaps heroically, by Common Peoples Source for News.

“The United States has an inverted pyramid of intelligence. The vast majority have far greater talents, knowledge, and wisdom than the ruling elite, who have failed miserably at every turn over the past year and decade, for that matter. The goal is to wrench power from the fumblers before they do totally irreparable damage.”

Many too many experts have consciously and willfully chosen NOT to openly discuss the root cause(s)the global predicament resulting from human overpopulation of the Earth because they did not think it would be helpful, I suppose. But look at what silence during the last 60 years has wrought. Elective mutism by so many experts regarding outstanding empirical research of certain human population issues, particularly human population dynamics, has effectively and perniciously vanquished science. This outcome could be the most colossal failure of nerve in human history. The consequences of this incredible mistake do not simply threaten a civilization with collapse. Collapses of civilization have occurred before. Sometimes on a smaller scale and other times on a larger one. But at no time in history can I find records of the precipitation of a human-driven collapse with such profound implications not only for a civilization, but also for life as we know it and the integrity of Earth as a fit place for human habitation. The ‘brightest and best’, most knowledgeable people, those in positions of much influence and great power, have not spoken out loudly, clearly and often enough.

When scientific knowledge is deludedly regarded as a threat to human wellbeing, and intellectual honesty, moral courage and personal accountability are everywhere eschewed, how on Earth do we ever give ourselves so much as a chance of mitigating damages, much less “solving” problems for which we bear a large share of responsibility?

I do not know what the future holds for the children. I am hoping they will find ways to muddle through. If they manage to do so, it will likely not be the result of the efforts of those in my not-so-great generation of elders. We have failed them so far “on our watch” and will continue to do so as long as we continuously choose to keep doing the same unsustainable overconsumption, overproduction and overpopulation activities we adamantly advocate and relentlessly pursue in our time, I suppose.

Silence will not save anyone from anything, and surely will not save humanity from itself.

The human-induced global predicament that looms before the human family today has been allowed to rampantly grow in my lifetime from a challenge that was manageable to a leviathan of a much more forbidding size. With every passing day, the worldwide challenges resulting from, and driven by, the overconsumption, overproduction and overpopulation activities of the human species become larger, more formidable and much more difficult to address and overcome. The demand characteristics of this unprecedented situation appear to require the active involvement of “all hands on deck”. We have to stop denying what is visible to naked eyes as well as ignoring that which we need to confront, and immediately begin changing the ‘trajectory’ of the predominant civilization from what is soon to become patently unsustainable to an alternate path marked by sustainable lifestyles and right-sized human enterprises.

Citigroups report 2 on the “rich are getting richer” has now been removed from the new link above with a message that reads “removed due to copyright infringement”.

    Time to dump on Citigroup.

I would LOVE copies as well from ANYONE who has them.

If my email is up, I am still looking for copies.

Psst. Stephen M et al. Use the Wayback Machine and the links at the top of this page. Google is your friend if you know not what the Wayback Machine is. Just downloaded the report from there again to test. Use early versions; the later versions have the “they ain’t here any more” message.

Thanks Edward for posting this. As an old man I learn long ago that people will try to get rid of things they intended to be private but became public and an embarrassment to them. Such is the case with Citigroup and their Plutonomy reports. I knew they would go after the second of those published reports sooner or later, which is why I made both of them available on CPS News.

Like you, I am absolutely lost for words why the general public is ignoring what these reports really say. It seems that some commoners will allow themselves to be sheared like sheep simply because of their politics. They will only open their eyes when it is too late; and it may already be.

So sorry – that ????? bank Citigroup has been/ chasing people around the net/ to remove their real views on the inequality that is happening in most western advanced nations/that only, in theor view, the ricjh should profit from, the media is trying to snowball(thats Murdoch media) and they have removed the link to report two again which clearly states the rich are getter so much richer that its not even worth following where the middle or poor spend their money anymore…… (stock market advice ..strictly for thew ealthy and their governments…their governments only, those who rule is now, before the rest of our governments that rule for us who dont exist – we…the poor and the middle and even the upper middle only get spin and BS and a diet of tripe).

    This aint no democracy.

If anyone who reads this is still banking with citigroup/ citibank – take your money out and keep it at home (under your mattress is better than giving it to these bastards).

You will have to excuse all my spelling mistakes.m Im just so annoyed that as soon as we get a decent link to Citigroup’s “report 2 = the rich are getting richer”
(which we all know anyway) that they must be spedning extyraordinary amounts, chasing their own “wealthy clients only reports” around the internet, and removing them ….and lets be honest…not just removing them nuy threatening to sue people who link to them, that , quite frankly there isnt anything much left to say about Citigroup except

They are in the business if making money for people who already have money..and they dont give a rats about inequality (and nor should they) but at least they are more honest than governments and the mainstream media…

So why do Citigroup think they have something to hide? The rest of us know it anyway.

So why not post what you really think GG?

The links works for me! Copyright might be limited to certain countries. But it’s not just the banks. It’s worse. In the Netherlands, the government is preparing a (probably unconstitutional) ban on ‘promoting a bankrun’ – i.e. on saying in public that finances of a specific bank are in bad shape.

I have now got into part 2. Amazing!

Here is a short video, “America Is a Plutonomy Nation”, (by Tears of Technology) on the Citigroup reports that grasps their political significance.

In my innocence, I don’t see why you, or anyone who may have printed out these documents, can’t simply post them on his own website.

As of yesterday the Citigroup Plutonomy reports are no longer available at CPS News. Read my latest post on the issue for an explanation.

The reports are available (for the time being) here and here.

Glad to see that they are available for download. As I said when I first put them up on CPS News, I expected that Citigroup would eventually get around to having their legal group contact me and force me to take down the documents. And they did. I hope those sites you linked to are clear of that. Making them available for download rather than being viewed on the Internet may just be legal.

If anyone has this report, I would be indebted to them if they sent it to my email account, TexasTelescope@gmail.com. Failing that, if anyone has technical research advice on how I might find it (I guess I need to look at file sharing networks, which is new electronic territory for me), please let me know or post it below.

    Sincerely appreciated – thank you!
