    I do not understand the selection of data in the diagram. Where is the first 20%, i.e. the part that is not Top 5% (0—5) but Top 5—20%?

    IMHO the diagram essentially obfuscates the true extent of inequality by omitting a large group of very rich people and by comparing segments of the population that are differently sized.

    agree … this presentation muddies the water. I think clearer graphical examples have appeared on this blog…

    We can also ask some questions:
    Who has created this diagram and for what reason?
    Why have the top 20% been reduced to the to 5%?
    Why have the top 5—15% been omitted?
    What is the justification for this kind of approach?
