Growth of Income Inequality: US vs. Europe

    These graphs are almost certainly very misleading. No time to look at the site, but they appear to be looking at in-country inequality in Western Europe and then averaging the countries’ inequality somehow.

    James Galbraith pointed out some years ago – he wrote a book about it – that with the EU & the EZ, this is no longer an entirely sensible procedure, because it effectively ignores the differences between countries. If you look at W Europe, the EU, the EZ as a whole, you get a rather different picture – he found the USA was actually more equal than Western Europe taken as one entity!

      It would be nice to see the figures that substantiate your claims about Mr Galbraith’ book.
